Dr. Sonia L. Russell

Dr. Russell currently oversees the following ministries: Women’s Ministry, including women’s events; Sunday School, for in house members who desire to go deeper into God’s word; Wednesday Night Prayer Service, where those in need of prayer are lifted up, and a short message is shared; Wednesday Bible Study, led by Deaconess Karen Hart; and the Youth Ministry, run by newly appointed Youth Minister, Donna George. Dr. Russell is also overseeing the newly formed Evangelist Ministry, heading by Evangelist Thea LeGendre-Cineus, who evangelizes to lost souls and shares the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Dr. Russell became an ordained minister in November of 2009 with The Living Water Church, under Pastor Ella Walcott. Dr. Russell was the Spoken Word and Poetry Minister for The Living Water Church, and also presided over Sunday morning services. She currently teaches Fundamentals of Public Speaking at the New York Institute of Technology. Dr. Russell considers her greatest achievement to be humbly serving God.

Dr. Sonia L. Russell came to New Birth Christian Ministries, Inc. in May 2021. In obedience to God, Sr. Pastor, Dr. Larry McCord, appointed Dr. Russell to head the Women’s Ministry. After some time and training, Dr. Russell began sharing the Word of God in messages at designated Sunday services, and presides over the service on the other Sundays. Dr. Dr. Sonia L. Russell, Ed. D. Russell was recently promoted to acting Associate Pastor under the tutelage of Dr. McCord.
