Dr. Larry McCord
Rev. Dr. Larry McCord is the Senior Pastor and Founder of New Birth Christian Ministries, Inc. (NCBM, Inc.) Dr. McCord is a decorated Vietnam Vet, Educator, Attorney, and Pastor who resides on Long Island, and works to help first- and second-generation college students from economically disadvantaged families break thru the obstacles of reaching for the stars by providing a leg up, and sometimes a ladder.
Dr. McCord is the Pastor of NBCM, Inc. in Uniondale, NY. The church (formerly of West Babylon and Freeport, NY), under the guidance of its pastor, has helped several of his young, high-school congregation members raise their grades, apply for, and get accepted, into colleges. Pastor McCord is passionate about the value of a college degree and utilizes the church as a vehicle for educating and uplifting youth to become better citizens and to get jobs that can create prosperity for them and their families. They learn responsibilities that apply to their school lives.
As a parent of four adult college graduates, Dr. McCord knows all too well the benefits of starting life off on the right foot. He is aware that the time to go to school is before they have bills and family obligations. He utilized his service in the Army to put himself through school using the GI bill. He tells young adults that God will bless them, but faith without work is dead. He believes that God wants them to be blessed and prosperous.
Pastor McCord helped one student who was a church member get accepted to three colleges with a $100,000 scholarship after working with Pastor McCord during his senior year. He tutored another senior student and raised his SAT score by 530 points between his first test and his final SAT exam. He is now enrolled at Nassau Community College working towards his Associates Degree before transferring to a 4-year university.
Formerly a school board President, Attorney McCord wrote a curriculum that allowed students at Wyandanch High School to enroll at Dowling College for college credits while still in high school. He then, with the permission of the University, taught those students as both a New York State certified teacher and a licensed practicing attorney in the state of New York. Attorney McCord is a member of the New York State Bar and is admitted to the Federal Bar, Eastern District of NY.
Attorney McCord holds a BBA from Hofstra University, a MA from Audrey Cohen College, a Juris Doctor degree from Touro Law School, and a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice.
He is the principal attorney at his firm and concentrates his practice in education, immigration, and family law, dealing with students’, teachers’, and parental rights. He has represented parents and students with school suspensions, represented staff members at superintendent (3214) hearings, and clients at Child Support Enforcement (CSE) and Persons in Need of Supervision (PINS) cases. He served as a personnel committee chairman of a local school district, school board president, district attendance teacher and hearing officer.
Dr. McCord brings all his experiences to pastor and to educate his congregation at New Birth.
